Jan. 01, 1964 - Turkish Cypriots offer £10, 000 for number of Greek Cypriot Journalist.: It has been reported from Nicosia-that chiefs of the Turkish minority in Cyprus have offered a prize of £10, 000 for the murder of the Greek Cypriot Journalist Nikos Sampson. Sampson first came into the public eye in the 1956 uprising - when he led units of the Cypriot underground movement in sniping attacks against British security forces in 1956. Now in the present troubles - he led a platoon of ex-Eoka members - attacking the Turkish machine gun nests - forcing them to withdraw from Omorfita - a suburb of Nicosia - and the captured a Turkish Major - and a Turkish flag - and various Turkish documents. Photo shows Nikos Sampson - in his Eoka uniform. The Turk Cyprus want him murdered
