Oct. 10, 1960 - Trials of former Turkish Leaders begin on the island of Yassiada: Adnan Menderes, the former Turkish Premier went on trial for his life today accused of a long list of offences against the State. The 61 year old premier with 76 year old ex-president Celal Bayar and nearly 400 other officials ousted in the armed forces coup in May, filed into the court on the prison island of Yassiada.
