Jan. 01, 1964 - British Troops still peace keeping in Cyprus; Prime Minister Sir Alec Douglas Home has hinted that the burden of peace keeping being assumed by British troops in Cyprus cannot be continued indefinitely, and it seems that a time limit may have to b e placed. At present, road blocks and barricades placed throughout the country are being progressively removed, after three days of negotiation, but the island is still rife with rumour and counter rumour, and recently, after reports that Greeks were gathering in preparation for a raid on the Turkish quarter after 4 Greek Post Office workers had been detained in the Turkish sector, British troops, heavily armed, took up positions near the Paphos Gate on the Mason Dixon Line that divides the two sectors, but the Greeks were released, and the British troops return to base.
