Armenia - Cyprus - Syria - Turkey
Feb. 02, 1964 - The massacre of Limassol. The town of Limassol in Cyprus was the scene of bitter fighting as the 6, 000 Turkish inhabitants fought a desperate, losing battle against the Greeks who outnumber them by about five to one. 104 British families who live in the Turkish sector were hurriedly evacuated from their homes as the bullets started to fly. With more then 50 Turks killed and 100 wounded, a cease fire was called for. Photo Shows: A gunman dashes across the street near the body of a dead Turk in Limassol
