May 27, 1971 - May 27th, 1971 Earthquake disaster in Eastern Turkey More than 800 bodies were reported to have been recovered after Saturday night's earthquake in Eastern Turkey. The epicenter of the earthquake was near Bingol, a province of some 150, 000 in habitants, leveling villages and towns.
