Jun. 06, 1965 - Fourteen Islanders Arrested During Attempt To Stop Traffic From The First Sunday Ferry Service: Fourteen Islanders were arrested, including a local minister, yesterday, after an attempt to block traffic from the first regular Sunday ferry service to run between the Scottish mainland and the Isle of Skye. The arrests followed a struggle during which the Islanders staged a sit-down demonstration blocking the road from the jetty. The demonstration marked the climax of a nine-month campaign in the Isle of Skye, stronghold of the Scottish Sabbath, against the introduction of the Sunday Ferry service.
