Asparagus Festival, Cantello, Varese, Northern Italy
Feb. 25 After the judging there was an impromptu concert in the street with singing and dancing by local girls and boys in their picturesque national costumes. Italy holds an Asparagus Festival; The pretty town Cantello in the Province of Varese, Northern Italy, is famous for its asparagus. It is the district's chief industry and to celebrate the asparagus season a great luncheon was held, together with a competition for the best crop in the district. Beautiful girls in national costume attended and there was singing and dancing to the music of instruments which are only found in the Varese area
