Nov. 11, 1953 - The New Royal Greenwich Observatory - Herstmonceaux Castle - Sussex: Giant telescopes which were mounted at Greenwich have re-erected at Dome Town Hurstmonceaux Castle, Sussex. The move has been going on for years and is now complete. The famous castle is used for administrative of ices labs and library. The telescope are housed in the specially constructed domes built in the castle grounds. Photo shows Dr. Richard Van Der Riet Woolley the Astronomer Royal lays on a couch to study celestial bodies through one of the giant 28 inch equatorial telescopes at the new Greenwich Observatory
