Feb. 02, 1953 - He Has An Observatory In His Back Garden. Brighton Telescope: At first sight the giant silver object - pointing skywards - in the garden of the house occupied by Mr. George Hole at Brighton - reminds one of a secret weapon in a space fiction magazine Actually it is a 10ft. long Coude Gassgrain telescope. Its perfectly balanced one and a half tons took 45 year old Mr. Hole- three years to bui8ld. he spent tow years polishing the 24 inch mirror - in his underground garden workshop. It took him another year to construct the tube and mounting. The telescope has cost him only about50. Mr. Hole is a follow of the Royal Astono Society - and he built his first telescope -a 6 inch model - when he was 18. Photo Shows: Mr. Hole with his huge telescope in the garden of his Brigton home
