Jan. 01, 1954 - Planet Jupiter to be televised: The B.B.C. hopes to show the planet Jupiter on Television screens tonight. Permission has been given by the Astronomer Royal, Sir Harold Spencer Jones, to use the 36in. telescope at Greenwich. A television camera will be attached to a wooden cradle made for the purpose. If the sky is clouded, material, prepared previously will be shown. Photo shows Mr. F.J. Hargeaves, an amatour astronomer, who will be giving a commentary tonight, seen at the bottom of the 36in telescope with TV camera in the wooden cradle fixed to the bottom of the telescope
