Oct. 03, 1958 - The High Down Rocket Test Site on Isle of Wight: While many security precautions still surroung the Black Knight project, some insight into the working of this British rocket, which recently reached a height of more than 300 miles in Australia, was gained during a visit to the SaundersRoe rocket test site at Highdown, on the Isle of Wight. It is here that they have their static firing test site, which is almost identical to the Woomera installation, where the full flight trials are carried out. It is the first of its type in Europe and is capable of testing development types of the Black Knight and its successors. Photo shows A view of the Highdown Rocket TEst site on the Isle of Wight
