Jan. 01, 1958 - Soviet Scientists to launch 125 rockers into the upper Stratosphere.: Part of the Soviet IGY programmes includes the launching into outer space of 125 rockets for investigation purposed. The rockets will be launched from different parts of the Soviet as well as from the Anta and the motor ship OB'. Some of the rockets when reaching their proper altitudes - divide into two parts - the head containing research apparatus and the body. Both parts descend to earth by parachute. Photo shows three pictures from the Soviet Union. On right the head of one of the test rockets of the type that are being launched into space. Top: - The head of one of the rockets on the ground after having been dropped by parachute - and Bottom: - a picture of the Earth taken at 120 KM - with equipment in one of the Soviet rockets
