Mar. 22 Life support capsule for carrying mice into the Orbit: The life support capsule to carry four mice aboard the Discoverer III satellite shows the position of the mice in flight and the centre food and water dispenser. If successful, the fully controlled environment of the life capsule will hold the first living beings to be place in orbit and recovered. Conducted by the Biostronautics Directorate of the Air Force Ballistic Missile Division on behalf of ARPA, the experiment will provide data for application of future space programmes including man in space. Both mice and capsule are now in the fully equipped Air Force biomedical vans at California's Vandenburg Air Forces Base, scene of the Discoverer III launch. The vans are headquarters for the biomedical phase of the project
