Feb. 07, 1966 - Pictures from the moon received at Jodrell Bank.: History was made at Jodrell Bank, Britain's space tracking station, on Friday, when pictures from the moon's surface were received there direct from Luna-9, the Russian spaceship now parked on the Ocean of Storms. Excited scientists at Jodrell Bank captured the pictures by tapping the streams of signal releayed back to Russia by Luna-9. The signals were converted on a standard photo-receiving machine of the type used in newspaper offices.
