Oct. 14, 1966 - 14.10.66 Hidden side of the moon. A high resolution photograph made by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Lunar Orbiter I spacecraft an August 24th, 1966 of an area on the hidden side of the moon has disclosed an unusual fractured crater floor which may be a source of volcanic materials. The fractures appear as an irregular pattern like that observed in a dried mud flat. North is roughly at the top of the photograph when it is viewed with the two large flat craters at the top. The heavily fractured crater near the centre of the photograph is 15 miles across; its neighbor to the north is about 24 miles at its widest. The photo; Lunar Orbiter high resolution frame 115, shows an area about 48 miles by 56 miles in dimension. It is located 145.8 degrees East longtitude and 4.5 degrees latitude on the lunar surface. The spacecraft was moving from left to right when the photograph was taken
