Nov. 11, 1966 - Japan Builds First Space Rocket: Photo shows the recently completed LSO 2-stage rocket and launcher built at the Mitsubishi aircraft works in Nagoya, japan for the Japanese Science and Technology Agency. The 33.7 feet rocket with a 2305 inch diameter, weighs 2.3 tons will be fired next spring and carry satellite into space. The liquid-fuel, two-stage rocket is designed to form the third stage of a large rocket when fired by remote control from its 60 feet long diameter
