Oct. 18, 1967 - Waiting for Venus - inside Jodrell bank's operations room: Scientist keep watch at Jodrell Bank radio telescope as a Russian Spaceship nears Venus. In the first picture from inside Jodrell Bank operations room these men try to keep track of Russia's Venus - 4; Mr. Robert Pritchard (left) head of the telescope's tracking team; Professor John Davies, from Manchester University, and Sir Bernard Lovell, director of Jodrell Bank. They had been specially asked by Dr. Matislav Kelysh, president of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, to help tap information from the spaceship. He said yesterday that it would reach Venus at 7 or 7.30 this morning. Some observers believe this means that the Russians will try to land Venus-4 on the planet, others are less sure. But Sir Bernard Lovell said yesterday, I am convinces that the Russians intend landing on Venus
