Jan. 01, 1972 - Start for an Important European space Experiment: the start of the Esro research satellite Heos-A2, which was planned for January 26th 1972, 17 30 cet, has been delayed for two days. On January 28th the satellite which was built by Belgian, English, Spanish, French and American companies, will be shot into an earth orbit from Western Test Range near Vandenberg, California. The satellite, ordered by the European Space Research Organisation Esro was developed and built by the Messerachmitt-Bolkow-Works near Munich. It weights 116 kg and will measure magnetic energy fields and plasma density up to a distance of 140, 000 miles. Heos A2 is the follower of Heos A1 which was sent into space on December 5th 1968 and is still there. First the start of Heos A2 was set fro December 10th 1971 but was postponed by NASA for the third time because the planed booster rocket Thor Delta twice malfunctioned.
