1971 - Russia Blasts Three Men Into Space To Rendezvous Withe Her Orbiting Space Station: Russia today blasted three men into space to rendezvous with her orbiting space station Salute 1 which was launched on Monday. Aboard the spacecraft Soyuz 10 launched today are two veteran cormonauts - Vladimir Shatalov, 43, commander of the craft and flight engineer Alexei Yeliseyev, 36, both have taken part in previous flight in 1969. The third men, test engineer Nikolai Rukavishnikov, newcomer to space. Today a launching making this mission the most ambitous ever undertaken by the Russians.
