1975 - SCIENTIFIC RESULTS FROM ARIEL-5 BRITAIN FIRST X-RAY ASTRONOMY SATELLITE ARIEL-5 is proving a very successful satellite and some exciting results have been obtained from experiments on board, Today the scientists involved were talking about their experiments and the results they have obtained during the satellite, e a first six months in orbit. It was launched on October 15th 1974 PHOTO SHOWS Five of the scientists at today's press conference at State House, High Holborn, They are (L. to 11) Sr, John Quenby; PROF PETER WILMORE; Dr -JOCELYN BURNELL, PROF, KENNETH POUNDS, and PROP ROBERT SOLID, C.B, E. FRS, standing round the AR:EL-5 prototype at today's press conference
