Jul. 07, 1975 - Start of the Soviet US Space Flight: On July 15th 1975, an US and a Soviet space craft will start for their first joint space flight. Sojus will start from the Soviet space center Baikonur at 3:20 pm local time - seven hours later the American Apollo capsule starts from Cape Canaveral. Two days later, the two crafts will be linked and the two crafts will make a joint flight of 47 hours and 20 minutes. Alexej Leonov and Valeri Curasov (at right on main picture) are the crew of the Sojus while Thomas Stafford and Donald Slayton (at left) man the Apollo craft.
