Jan. 01, 1978 - Space Satellite tracing and telecommunication station commissioned in Hungary: The space satellite tracing and telecommunication station here was commissioned today. The Hungarian government resolved in May 1973 to establish an Intersputnik ground station in the country. The planning and construction of the station was done by the Hungarian posts with Soviet technological help. The technical building and communication equipment were constructed on the basis of Soviet blueprint, while the ancillary establishments were planned b Hungarian experts. The station can maintain connection at will with artificial satellites in orbit and visible from the centre. Its installations are capable of receiving or sending one television picture, two radio programmes as well as telephone line. In planning and execution of the space satellite tracing and telecommunication station Soviet, Czechoslovak and Hungarian experts collaborated.
