Aug. 08, 1981 - Kennedy Space Center, Fla: Columbia rests in the transfer aisle of the Vehicle Assembly Building as Preparations are made to hoist it into High Bay 3 for mating with the solid rocket boosters and external tank. It was towed from the Orbiter Processing Facility before down this morning. Columbia was backed out of the OPF at 3:45 a.m. and rolled into the VAB about 25 minutes later to complete the latest segment of its second journey to the launch pad. Dennedy Space Center launched Columbia on the launch pad, Kennedy Space Center launched Columbia on the Space Shuttle's maiden Voygen into Orbit on April 12, 1981
