Astronaut - Comets - NASA - Space - Spacecraft - UFOs

Aug. 30, 1981 - The Encke Division in the outer A-ring is viewed in this computer-generated photograph. This picture was created from a cross section of Saturn's rings as measured by the Voyager 2 photopolarimeter's star occultation of Aug. 25. Resolution here is about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles); by comparison, the highest resolution of the Voyager imaging system is seldom better than 10 km. This photograph clearly shows the central ringlet, also observed by the imaging cameras. The Voyager project is managed for NASA by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif
