Oct. 10, 1983 - Kennedy Space Center, Fla... Ronald E. Mcnair, will be one of three mission specialists flying abroad Orbiter Challenger on the Sta-II flight scheduled for January 1984. Dr. Mcnair received a doctor of philosophy in physics from Massachusetts institute of Technology and was presented on honorary doctorate of laws from North Carolina A and T State University. He was chosen by NASA to be an astronaut in 1978
