Jul. 07, 1984 - Kennedy Space Center, Fla. - Framed by the flags of the nations participating in the international Active Magnetospheric Particle Tracer Explorer (AMPTE) mission, this college of pictures shows the three spacecraft being tested in the SAEF 2 building at KSC. Clockwise from bottom left are the Ion Release Module (Federal Republic of West Germany); Charged Composition Explored (United States); and the United Kingdom Subsatellite (Great Britain). The three spacecraft will be launched in a single stack on a Delta rocket and will work together to increase our understanding of the Earth's magnetic fields
