Jul. 07, 1984 - Kennedy Space Center, Fla. -- The 3 main engine is removed from the aft end of Space Shuttle Orbiter Discovery after an aborted launch on June 26. The Space Shuttle onboard computers terminated the countdown at T-4 seconds after a fuel valve in the engine failed to open properly during the ignition sequence. A new engine which has not flown but was tested on Discovery during the Flight Readiness Firing is the replacement
