Austin Champ vehicle demonstrated at Farnborough, Hants

Nov. 11, 1952 - Demonstrating The Austin Champ'. Own Travel In Five Feet Of Water: The Austin Champ a four-wheel-drive vehicle which has been specially developed for use by the British Army Services as a light personnel carrier - was demonstrated today at Farnborough, Hants. Extremely robust, it is designed for service under almost any conditions. There are three vesions of The Champ - Military (with a Rolls Royce engine); Civilian (with an Austin 2660 cc engine) and another military version with a special Austin 2660 cc engine. The Military versions of the vehicle are fitted with stack pipes and are waterproofed, which enable it to be driven through water up to five feet in depth.
