1963 - Australian Cliff top drama Wifes Plea stops husband committing suicide; While a husband, stood on the other side of a safety fence just a few yards from a 200 ft. drop to death at The Gap, Watsons Bay, Coogee, Australia his wife pleaded with him not to commit suicide. She talked with him for five hours and said For Gods sake don do it. One during the tense drama a policeman jumped from behind the wife and touched her husbands shoulder. The man ran to the edge of the cliff, swayed momentarily and threw up his arms and fell back to safety and shouted Don come any closer or Ill go over. I have to do it. During the five hours, before he climbed over the safety fence to join his wife, the man Called for his solicitor and made a will; Accepted hot tea and cigarrettes; Wrote a letter to his stepdaughter and borrowed a torch to peer over the brink for he wanted to see if rock of the sea was immediately below. After he climbed back to safety the man was taken to the Admission Centre.
