1972 - Cock fight The men who bet on blood!! Police make dawn raid in Sydney, Australia - Sydney, Australia police made a raid just before dawn at Hoxton Park on the outskirts of the city a few days ago and caught a number of men red-handed in the midst of a Cockfight. Subsequently in the court, tweleve men were each fined £50 or 100 days hard labour. Det. Sgt. Gorman told the court the ring were the cockfights took place was 500 yards from a road in thick scrubland. All the cock birds had their natural spurs cut off and police found five boxes of metal spurs which when fitted to the birds tore each other to death.
