Nov. 23, 1957 - Injured Man In Australian Cliff Rescue Drama: A 73-Years old badly injured man, William Francis Grant. was rescued by Sydney Police from the foot of a 160-foot cliff at Kurnell, Australia. The man had lain injured for more than four hours while the Police Recuse Squad fought to save him. Grant was fishing with four companions when freak wave swept them all against the face of the cliff. When the wave subsided grant was found trapped in a crevice and suffering a fractured thigh and abrasions. His companions unable to move him above the high water mark. The police rescue squad, led by Sgt. Harry ware, rigged a bosun's char to bring him to the top. Ambulance men and helper at the foot of the cliff carried the Stretcher waist high through there water to get the injured man to the chair. He was then hauled to the cliff top.
