Feb. 29 Fiji celebrates seventy five years of British rule.: The 75th anniversary of Fiji's cession to Britain was celebrated on October 10th. 1949, and was marked by military parades, a sports meeting to select athletes to compete in the Empire Games to be held at Auckland, N.Z. in Feb. 1950, and an exhibition to show the remarkable economic and social progress of the colony during the seventy-five years under British rule
