Apr. 05 Ice Cream Factory Gas Blast Creates Panic. Fifteen Taken To Hospital In Sydney - Australia.: Fifteen people were taken to hospital - and more that forty were treated on the spot when they were badly affected by clouds of ammonia which swept through Peter's Ice Cream factory at Redfern, Sydney - Australia recently. Ten girls were trapped on the top floor - and 56 girls in the department below them fled panic stricken into the street. The fumes escaped when the top of a compressor blew off in the basement - rapidly filling the building. Ambulances - first aid - and fire brigade personnel were soon on the spot administering oxygen to the victims.
