Jun. 06, 1963 - Human Skeleton Nearly Shot: Sidney Dale has survived 28 days of being lost in the Australian Outback, ending in his nearly being shot a crocodile hunter. It all started when his horse b from the Elizabeth Downs mustering station in the Territory, after being scared by a bullock. By the he gained control of his horse he was lost, with no gun matches, knife or boots, and for three days wandering in search of food or water, then his horse was again scared this time by a wild buffalo. After 10 days he found the Daly River, and lay their for another 18 days before two crocodile hunters came along having seen tracks. As he feebly tried to wave to them, one of them saw the movement and raised his gun to shoot, but luckily realised it was a human being. Photo shows Sidney Dale seen after his rescue
