Oct. 10, 1978 - Ken is Fastest Afloat: Ken Warby and his patched-up jet hydroplane Spirit of Australia ripped through the world's most feared water speed barriers, on Monday October 9th. On a water surface made to order for record breaking they swept both ways over the measured kilometre course on Blowing Dam, near Tumut, Austraia, at an average speed of 510.425 km/h (317.186mph).
