Oct. 10, 1976 - World Conference on Development and Peace in Budapest, Budapest : With Nearly 500 delegates from some 100 countries participating, The World Conference on Development and Peace opened here today in the large hall of the Construction Workers Trade Union headquarters. The conference, initiated by the World Peace Council, is also attended by representatives of several international organizations, including the United Nations specialized agencies UNIDO, UNCTAD, WHO, ILO, UNESCO, the African Unity Organization, the IPU, among others. The 45-member presidium included Mr. Istvan Sarlos, General Secretary of the Hungarian Patriotic People's Front and Mr. Romesh Chandra, General Secretary of the World Peace Council.
