Dec. 21 Talk and money cashing Yasunari Kawabata (Nobel Prize Winner Literature 1968) cashed his Nobel Prize money, 350, 000 Swedish Crowns, Thursday December 12th. From Mr. Nils Stahle, at the Nobel Foundation he received his check. Then straight on to the bank to cash it. Mr. Alf Akermna helped him. Just in case, Mr. Kawabata wrote his name both in Arabic and Japanese letters. And Thursday was also the day for speech. Mr. Kawabata held a speech, entitled Japan, the beautiful and myself in the Adrshuset for members of the Swedish Academy. He spoke more on late poets, than on himself, that he admires.
