Mar. 06, 1961 - March 6th 1961 Biography of Ernest Bevin: Unskilled Labourer and World Statesman The publication of Mark Stephens biography of Ernest Bevin by the Transport and General Workers Union was launched today at the Bloomsbury Centre Hotel. It is a short account of the life and achievements of the Union founder, Ernest Bevin, and it celebrates the centenary of his birth in the Somerset Village of Winsford on March 7th 1881. This marks the first attempt by a union to enter the field of publishing under its own imprint with a book for the general public.
