Jul. 07, 1977 - 75th Birthday of Gunther Weisenborn; 75 years ago, on July 10th 1977, the well known German author Gunther Weisenborn (Gunther Weisenborn - our picture) was born in Verlbert/Rheinland. The author of subjects criticizing time and society, whom first novel U-Boot S4 was published in 1928, had been living in the United States for years before he went back to Germany and joined the resistance movement, for which suffered 3 years penal servitude from 1942 to 1945. Later he lived in Hamburg and in Berlin on March 26th, 1969. Among others, his tales the girl of Fano (1935), and built on sand (1956), the novel the fury (1961), as well as the tragedies die Neuberin (1934), t'The illegals (1946), Ballads vom Eulenspiegel, von Federle und von der dicken Pompanne (1949, zwei Engel staigen aus 1954, der lautlose Aufstand (1953- a report of the resistance movement) and der gespaltene Horizont (1964, are some of the best known works of Gunther Wisenborn
