Author Paul Bates launches his new book well bed
Mar 20, 1964; London, UK; Author PAUL BATES, 30, polio victim held a reception at the Dorchester Hotel, from his bed, which he has not left since 1954. He was accompanied by his co-author, Rev. JOHN PELLOW. Paul was a second lieutenant 20 years of age, when he was first attacked by polio, in the Malayan jungle. Now he can use the phone, make tea, type and turn on the tv. Paul gave the reception at the expense of his publishers, who are treating him to 3 days in the luxury of the hotel. The picture shows Paul and John during the reception at the Dorchester Hotel
