Automatic mine-laying demonstration, Chattenden, Kent

Jul. 21, 1970 - Automatic Mine-Laying Demonstration: The Royal Engineers Field Engineer school at Chattenden, Kent, today demonstrated the Bar automatic mine-layer in action. Looking like an agricultural piece of machinery, it lays bar mines which are 42in length and weigh 23 lbs. Made of plastic they defy normal mine directors. They will be in service in 1971. Photo shows Close-up of the rear of the mine-layer showing the two leaders and one mine about to be laid just leaving the machine during today's demonstration
