Sep. 29, 1976 - September 29th 1976 Mr. Averill Harriman attends a luncheon in his honour at the English Speaking Union The first U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union, Mr. Averill Harriman, spoke today at the English Speaking Union during a luncheon in his honor, as well as an event to raise money for Jimmy Carter, the Democratic candidate for the White House, for his presidential campaign. The luncheon was arranged by the London branch of Democrats abroad. Harriman's remark that he has known every Soviet leader since Trotsky was quite appropriate as he has just returned from talks with Leonid Brezhnev.
