Aviatrix Diana Barnato Walker 1918 - 2008
Aug. 27, 1963 - Durham, England, U.K. - Yesterday on the 27th anniversary of her first solo flight, Mrs. DIANA BARNATO WALKER became the first woman member of the R.A.F.'s Ten Ton Club by flying a lightning aircraft at over 1000 m.p.h. Mrs WALKER is Corps Pilot to the Women's Junior Air Corps. During the war she was a Ferry Pilot. Mrs. Walker obtained special permission for the flight from the Air Minister. Mr. Hugh Fraser.
