Babies - Children - Multiple Births

Feb. 04, 1953 - The Eight weeks old Miracle baby of Canvey Island, Floated in Carry Cot for twelve hours.: Linda Foster, Canvey Island's eight-week-old miracle baby who bobbed around in her carry-cot for 12 hours before being rescued on Monday night, lay in the sun kicking and chortling today at Southend General Hospital. As yet little is know of Linda's strange story. She arrived at the hospital on Monday, swaddled in damp clothes along with the other survivors. Miss I.M. L. Syer, the 21 year old matron, took special charge of the baby. A special search was made yesterday - and the baby's grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevens who had lived round the corner - were eventually found - but the baby's parents Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Foster are still missing. Photo shows miracle baby Linda Foster with Matron I.M.L.Syer - at Southend General Hospital today
