Feb. 02, 1959 - An Electric Heart Kept this seven-year-old girl alive.:seven-year-old Cecilla Williams is the little girl who helped to make medical history. About three who helped to make medical history. About three months ago Cecilia underwent a serious heart operation at Guy's Hospital, London. A complication developed during the operation, performed by Sir Russell Brocke, and to keep her heart beating he sewed electric wires into the heart and connected them to a special battery which supplied electrical pulses. The heart was kept beating for 11 days by this method. Ceclia, who lives at Parkstone, Dorset, has made a full recovery.
