May 05, 1956 - Dead boy is brought back to life in swimming pool drama: Watched by hundreds of school children, two ambylance men battled for over an hour yesterday afternoon and revived 9 year old Ronald Wakefield, of Arrowsmith road, Hainault, Essex, after his apparently lifeless body had been taken out of the valentine Park Swimming Pool at Ilford yesterday. A watchful attendant, Eric Forge, 21, spotted Ronald face down on the bottom of teh deep and While Eric dived in fully clothed and brought Ronald to the surface, and Mr. Knight, Eric and Tony Prior, a young R.A.F man on leave, started revival attempts. Within four minutes ambulance men, Leopard Barge 24, and Peter Crane, 38, reached the pool from Ilford Ambylance Depot. Ronald's face and truned black from suffocation. No one knew hos long he had been under water. He was not breathing. The ambulance men perserved with artifical respiration. Thirty minutes went by before Ronald's pulse gave a faint flutter but nothing more. After another 35 minutes the boy's eyelids flickered.
