Jan. 01, 1959 - The forgotten Mother - after two years her son did not know her; For two years Hungarian freedom fighter Mrs. Maria Nikulece waited for the day when she would be re united with her three year old son. Then came the day when it happened but instead of joy Mrs. Nikulecz found grief and disappointment for the boy would not even take her hand. Clutching at a Red Cross nurse who arrived with him, he stared blankly at the mother he no longer recognized. Mr.s Nikulecz last saw her son Istvan as Russian tanks rumbled through Budapest. He was taken by his grandmother to Israel. Then when Mr. and Mrs. Nikulecz cam to England Istvan and his grandmother were traced by the Red Cross. When yound Istvan arrived at a Manchester station his mother was waiting to meet him. But when he would not take her hand she burst into tears. my God, she sobbed, this is terrible'. He was taken to Mrs. Nikulecz's home at Denton, where he met his father who also shared teh heartache. But now young Istvan is beginning to settle down in his new surroundings. Photo Shows Young Istvan stands aloof as his mother holing his baby brother he has never seen, weeps. This was the scene at the reunion on a Manchester Station
