Oct. 29, 1959 - The Schoolboys who formed an Insurance Society Shut Up Shop A school insurance society formed by boys to pay compensation for canings, detentions and lines, has been wound up. One of the organisers, 13 year old Geoffrey Small, of High street, Lowertoft, said yesterday. The headmaster told me he did not think it was a suitable activity in the school, so we decided to drop the whole thing. For months their Middle School Insurance Society, at Lowestoft Gammar School, has paid out 4 shillings for a canning, 3 shillings for detention and 1 shilling for every hundred lines. Subscriptions were 3d a week with a no claim bonus of 2d. for clients who kept out of trouble.
