Aug. 27, 1964 - Storyteller On The Village Green: A new Children's storytime scheme inaugurated by the local council for villages in Nottinghamshire-for the summer holidays-is proving to be a great success. Story-time-part of the country library service has two aims-The first to keep the children pleasantly occupied-and the second to make the children went to read the stories for themselves. The story-teller is 23-year old Miss Joan Woodhouse a librarian from Newark-learns six children's books each week-and visits the villages to tell the stories to the children. She has become a sort of modern Pied Piper'-for the children eagerly await her arrival and listen to every word intently. Photo shows.
