Jul. 21, 1950 - Defeated by the Wurst'! The record in Frankfurt for eating wurst, or sausage, wouldn't leave a naive(up to then) man from N?rnberg in peace. He wagered that he could eat a N?rnberg Stadtwurst, one meter in length, in under twenty minutes. Top Picture: The master enters the ring, and, celebrated by those curious onlookers, is acquainted with his opponent, the Wurstungeheuer or Giant Sausage. Bottom Left Picture: The battle has begun. To encourage him the prizes, two N?rnberger hams, are held in front of him. Bottom Right: The skeptic will remember this. The contestant runs out of steam in the middle of the sausage. My health is more important to me, he clarified, rising with much effort, to the chagrin of the spectators. The sausage remains the victor
